Sales managers are directly responsible for the performance of the sales force. In general, the job description of a sales manager has two major aspects:

They can be expected to be actively involved with the sales organization and, in some cases, the marketing department as well.
I finally finished up reading the book, and have to say that it is a pretty good book. It is very detailed on the fundamentals of sales management.
Based on the premises that the sales management is a basic function of the company, the author goes into quite a bit of detail on the analysis of the sales management function.
The theoretical part of the book as a whole is very sound, and the many practical examples used to illustrate the various theories are very helpful.
